Connect The Story
Floral summer trend 2016
A space set out with objects of meaning. The overall vision is one suffused with harmony and strong tactile sensibility. Everything in the presentation desires to tell a story. All products have the appearance of having been subjected to rigorous research and investigation. The quest for the common thread linking all products is the key narrative gambit. This core is often represented by a concept of sustainability. Typical to this harmony is the circle motif; both in the manner of its use and its symbolism. The circle speaks of a triptych concept of eternity, completeness and satisfaction. This chimes with sustainability, simplicity and 'cohesion in diversity', and is reflected in the interior. In a physical sense, too, circles make their mark on the interior architecture.
Shapes and forms are subdued, quiet and orderly. The circle motif, symbol of unity and harmony, is striking in its multiplicity. The accessories also radiate a warmth and friendliness; they appear to encompass us. The forms occasionally seem to enhance the quality of a product or link the various functions.
The materials exude a natural radiance. The overall composition is complemented and highlighted by ceramics, woven materials, terracotta, cotton, linen, leather and transparent glass.
The patterns are natural and distinctly handmade in character. Overlapping stripes and diamonds and natural imagery depicting insects, small garden animals, flowers and plants. There are also irregular spot and spatter patterns.
White and green dominate the colour palette. There are also fresh and cheerful natural colours, complemented by terracotta and a marsala reddish brown. The colours are used in harmony, imparting an attractive natural radiance.
Flowers and plants
This trend is characterised by a copious use of leafy plants, particularly plants with a story based on a particular function, a unique shape or an interesting family of cultivars . Having a specific story or characteristic quality is also vital for the flowers.
Clever shopping for you materials can make your work a lot easier. I found this this bamboo premade base at one of my regular wholesalers and instantly saw a lot of possibilities with it.
