Autumn trend 2017
In times when tensions are rising and we are confronted with a lot of misery, we need a safety valve. We need to relax without worrying, take a moment where we can forget all the rules and obligations imposed upon us. The answer to this is an atmosphere in which there appear to be no rules - just colour, cheerfulness and silliness. This is giving rise to a trend in interiors where furniture and accessories are treated in a frivolous way, using lots of bright colour and comical and strongly contrasting combinations. Flowers and plants are given a totally uninhibited place in the interior without taking any account of existing rules or conventions and this creates a spatial experience which briefly lifts our burdens and radiates light-heartedness. Nothing is right or wrong - anything goes. This trend represents a completely new paradigm in both interiors and fashion.
The shapes used are whimsical and very varied. This trend is about unexpected combinations of sleek, comical, romantic and natural shapes.
The use of materials is also all about unusual and unexpected combinations. Anything is possible, anything goes. Coarse, natural materials are less obvious, whilst artificial materials spring readily to mind.
Mad patterns and combinations of patterns (d): abstract, figurative and exotic. Also patterns derived from handicraft such as embroidery, carpet weaving, tufting, collage and assemblage.
The colour chart is a cheerful cacophony of bright colours, clear and faded pastels. The absence of natural neutrals is noteworthy.
Flowers and plants
Flowers with distinctive shapes and double colours are very suitable for this theme. Plants should also have distinctive shapes so flowering plants are preferable here. Also a focus plants with decorated leaves.
A colorful hair do
By adding humour to your design you will create added value. For this bouquet the vase was leading, the face that is made on the neck of the vase gave me the idea to create an over the top hair do. As if a largo afro wig is placed on top of it.
